On Tuesday, June 20, Queen Camilla made a rare appearance in a Dior outfit. On that same day, the brand said that rumors that Meghan Markle, the brand's daughter-in-law, was about to become a face in a "megabucks" deal were false.
At 2023 Royal Ascot, Camilla, 75, wore a custom cream double-buttoned coat and matching dress with her husband, King Charles III. Dior, which was more closely associated with Charles's first wife, the late Princess Diana, is rarely worn by the royal.
Over the earlier end of the week, various outlets detailed that Meghan was going to sign a multimillion-dollar arrangement to address Dior. Following this, Spotify terminated its partnership with the California native and her husband, Prince Harry for failing to meet "productivity benchmarks" in their $20 million agreement, which resulted in the production of only 13 podcast episodes over the course of nearly three years.
Dior killed the reports they arranged a future with Meghan as a brand delegate, telling Ladies' Wear Day to day on June 20 that there was no reality to the reports, "focusing on there have been no agreement exchanges or late contact with Markle."
The rumors were also denied by a spokesperson for Meghan and Harry. Life & Style has reached out to the couple and Buckingham Palace for comment. On June 17, several British publications, including the Daily Mail, published articles describing Meghan as the "Duchess of Dior." "Meghan is all anyone is talking about," a unidentified Beverly Hills socialite told The Mail, "There have been rumors for weeks that she's about to sign a deal with Dior, which has put the gossip mill into overdrive." No one will remember that her silly little podcast was canceled after one season if she does that."
Before and after becoming a working member of the British royal family, Meghan wore Dior on numerous occasions. In 2018, she attended the RAF100 Service at Westminster Abbey in a custom navy sateen dress. During her visit to Morocco in February 2019, the Duchess of Sussex wore a custom off-white gown by Dior. Her most well-known Dior ensemble was the white coat dress and hat she wore to the Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey in 2022 to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's platinum jubilee.
Unlike Meghan, who was unable to attend his father's coronation on May 6, 2023, Prince Harry wore a bespoke Dior morning suit.
