After the Vikings selected him as the No. Addison, the 23rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, moved to Minnesota with arguably the league's best receiver.
Justin Jefferson, like Addison, was selected as the No. 22nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft The three-time Pro Bowler will now be Addison's teammate and likely mentor. While thinking about his draft day, Addison offered his thanks for the Vikings picking him when they did.
On Thursday, Addison stated on NFL Total Access, "It was just real special, I had the family there to support, and I just felt like I fell to the perfect organization."
Jefferson reached a career high with 129 receptions, 1,809 yards, and an average of 106.4 yards per game during the previous season. Additionally, for Minnesota, he scored eight touchdowns. Above all else, during offseason activities, Addison has been watching, analyzing, and practicing with the superstar receiver.
He stated, "Oh, man, it's just all been learning for me, not too much talking." Just standing around on the field and trying to understand why he chooses to run his routes in the manner that he does."
As a replacement for Minnesota receiver Adam Thielen, who signed with the Panthers after being released, Addison will now have the opportunity to utilize his skills.
Addison had 59 receptions for 875 yards and eight touchdowns in 2022 while playing for USC. Even if that means taking over for the veteran wideout, Addison believes he will be ready for the big leagues.
"I won't go into too much detail about comparing. I know exactly what I can do. He stated, "I'm confident, and I'm going to fill his shoes."
Adding depth in Addison is a big plus for the Vikings, who hope to make a run at the playoffs in 2023. Four years ago, the Vikings were fortunate to select a receiver in the first round. Time will tell if Addison can have the same impact given his self-assurance and willingness to learn from the best.
