RNC Chair Makes No Exception

In a new interview, Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel reiterated her party's loyalty pledge, which stipulates that qualified candidates must support the GOP's 2024 presidential nominee in order to participate in a debate next month.

Before the GOP debate on August 23 in Milwaukee, McDaniel, who was elected to a fourth two-year term as chair in January, told Chris Wallace of CNN that candidates must agree to the "Beat Biden" pledge.

"Also, what we're talking about ... is assuming you will remain on the Conservative Public Advisory group banter stage, you ought to have the option to help the chosen one and beat Biden," McDaniel told Wallace on an episode of his CNN/Max show.

That incorporates previous President Donald Trump, she affirmed.

The RNC will present the loyalty pledge to those who meet the donor and polling criteria for the debate to GOP presidential candidates who have criticized Trump.
