There are few celebrities who'd come to mind faster than Ariana Grande if I said the words "signature ponytail." The Grammy-winning vocalist is so closely associated with the look that fans all but lose their collective cool when she wears her hair down — and that's especially true when she gives social-media followers a peek at her naturally curly texture. And on Monday, November 25, Grande shared a look at an unexpected combination of her trademark updo and her rarely-seen curls.
The short black-and-white clip was shared to Grande's Instagram Stories, and it shows her in the mirror, obscuring her face with her phone as she plays with her hair. As we so frequently see her, the singer is wearing that hair in a high ponytail. However, it's not the extra-long, super-straight version we almost always see her sporting.
Instead, her hair is a fabulously voluminous mass of curls and waves. A tendril hangs out in the back, and she appears to be pulling the hair elastic out of her hair, but the video cuts off before the ponytail comes down. In tiny letters, Grande has written "the most hair" over her phone case and above a heart emoji that's inexplicably covering her hand. (Perhaps a new tattoo that she's not ready to reveal?)
Chances are, Grande will return to flat-ironed extensions as soon as she hits the stage again — it's her most recognizable look, after all — but this little glimpse of Grande's natural texture is further proof that she looks just as cute with curls.
