On Saturday afternoon another collaboration was occurring not far from the Do LaB stage – an art partnership.

Artists Sand One, from East Los Angeles, created one of her signature images of a woman with pink lips big eyes and long eyelashes on a 8 feet by 12 feet wide canvas.
Next to her were artist, Hans Walor and street artist Angelina Christina who are both from Venice. The trio were invited to create live art for the festival by the Do Art Foundation, a nonprofit of the Do LaB.
Walor and Christina’s dual art piece is titled “Awaken Your Truth,” and depicts a woman who is between the dream state and reality, he said.
“You see the transition between the dream state and imagining yourself in this beautiful alter reality,” Walor said. “My side is the depiction of the dream state where Angelina’s side is really clean.”
The juxtaposition of the two styles is what Walor likes the most.
The goal of the art piece, which is on sale at the polo grounds, is to empower people.
“The best reaction I got all this weekend is seeing a policeman standing in front of the work for a good 10 to 15 minutes,” Walor said. “To me, if we are affecting authority, government or the people who work for them, and catching their eye, I think that’s something really powerful.”
Christina, a street artist, has created work for musicians but she rarely gets to do it while live music is being created.
“Everything I do is public but usually we’re in a not good neighborhood – I don’t usually have live music,” she said.
Since the duo began simultaneously working on the art, Christina said the reaction has been overwhelming.
“If people are having a positive emotion then we’re doing then we’re doing what we set out to do,” she said.
