Urdu Shayari and Express Their Emotions in the Same

A lot has been said and written on Urdu Shayari. shayari in itself is so vast that it is almost impossible to complete it in a few sentences. No one knows when and how it started first but its charm can still be felt today. Millions of people around the world like shayari and express their emotions in the same. So is the craze of shayari. Urdu which is spoken in India and Pakistan is the rich language of this subcontinent and
people from all walks of life understand it. The noblest way to express the language of heart is Shayari in Hindi. Urdu shayari is actually the feelings of the million of its followers who unfortunately couldn't pen their feelings on paper. However their work is done by poets who not only write but write beautifully. The 'bahar' is quite important in Urdu shayari as the whole Urdu shayari dependent on it. Bahar is the symbol of the completeness of the shair. shayari has a particular format and each shair has to follow it. Apart from bahar, Urdu shayari has matan as well and the beauty of the sher comes when it is not only complete but there is some beautiful message involved. Different poets from this subcontinent have written their poetries in Urdu. One of them was Qateel who was from Pakistan. He was considered one of best poet of Urdu shayari of his time.

Qateel Shifai whose real name was Aurangzeb Khan was born on December 24, 1919 at Haripur in Hazara district (Pakistan). Because of his father's untimely death in 1935, he could not continue his higher education and had to quit ultimately. After unsuccessfully trying to make his living through small business ventures, he joined the Lahore film industry in 1947 as a lyricist. His father was a business man and there was no tradition of poetry in his family. Initially he showed his poetry to Hakim Yahiya Shifa Khan puri for correction and advice. He derived his poetic surname 'Shifai' from him. Later he also sought guidance from Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi who was his friend and neighbor. Qateel poetry began with ghazals and he was basically a lyrical poet. He was lyrical and musical even in his Nazms. He was well regarded for his romantic geet. He published 14 poetic works like Haiyali, Guftagoo, Matrabaa, Bargad etc. His poetry has been His poetry has been translated into numerous languages including Hindi, Gujarati,English, Russian and Chinese and acclaimed a lot. He had also produced a film in his mother language Hind ko in 1970. He died in Lahore in 2001. The street on which he lived in Lahore has been named Qateel Shifai Street after him. A particular sector of Haripur city has also been named after him which is known as Mohallah Qateel Shafai.
