Kareena Kapoor-The Newsmaker!

Kareena Kapoor [http://www.karinakapoor.org/] was born on September 21, 1977 in Bombay in a family that has been acting in the films for generations. Her father is a famous actor Randhir Kapoor with Punjabi origin and mother Babita with Sindhi background. Her elder sister Karishma Kapoor is also an established actress who has now settled down after marriage.

She finished her schooling from Jamnabai Narsee School in Juhu, Bombay and Dehra Dun's prestigious Welham Girls' Boarding School. The actress later went to Harvard to pursue a 3 month degree in Information Technology and Microcomputers. Upon returning Kareena Kapoor also attended Government Law College in Churchgate, Bombay, but left it after one year, to enroll in the Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting School.
Her father was opposed to his girls working in the film world but her mother supported both the sisters and eventually their parents had to separate. Kareena got her debut movie opposite Abhishek Bachchan in the form of J.P. Dutta directed Refugee (2000). As predicted she was lauded for her performance and even swapped all the major debut awards that year.
She followed it up by some hugely successful movies like Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and some not so successful movies like Yaadien and Asoka. Then came the year 2004, Kareena Kapoor took up a role of prostitute in film Chameli, her role was appreciated again and she was awarded the Filmfare Special Performance Award for her role in the film.
After that it was like Kareena Kapoor raining everywhere with her delivering one powerful performance after another like Yuva, Dev, Fida, Aitraaz, Hulchul, Bewafaa, Kyon Ki, 36 China Town, Chup Chup Ke, Omkara, Milenge Milenge, Kya Love Story Hai, Jab We Met and Tashan.
Here we want to point out that Jab We Met (2007) became a cult movie and one of the biggest hits of Kareena's career which sky rocketed to new heights of success. The actress was earlier involved with Shahid Kapoor in a 4 year long relationship which ended during the shooting of Jab We Met. Soon Kareena Kapoor found love in beau Saif Ali Khan with whom she met on the sets of Tashan. The couple has been dating since then and has future plans for settling down together.
Kareena Kapoor's 2008 release are Golmaal Returns and an animated movie Roadside Romeo where she lent voice to the character Laila. Her future projects include Lajjo and a movie based on Chetan Bhagat's novel Five Point Someone.
