Pharrell Williams won't take credit for his bold fashion move at the 86th annual Academy Awards.
The 'Happy' hitmaker refused to take responsibility for wearing shorts to the glamorous film awards ceremony and claimed it was all down to luxury brand Lanvin when he was quizzed about his unconventional attire on red carpet at the Dolby Theatre, Hollywood, on Sunday evening (02.03.14).
The 40-year-old star told AccessHollywood.com: 'I can't take the credit for it. It's Lanvin! It's a whole Lanvin suit.'
While it was a hit with fellow party-goers, his outfit didn't go down so well with the public and a number of fans took to Twitter to share their disapproval of his knee-baring attire.
One posted, 'No, Pharrell. JUST NO. NEVER. #Oscars (sic)', while another joked, 'Pharell looks like he belongs in the Von trap family #oscars #oscarredcarpet #whatishethinking (sic)'.
Pharrell performed his hit single 'Happy' from 'Despicable Me 2' - which was nominated for Best Original Song - during the ceremony and he managed to get a number of A-listers on their feet during the show, including Lupita Nyong'o, Meryl Streep and Amy Adams.
Male celebrities were having a fashion moment at the Oscars with Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio and Matthew McConaughey causing a sensation in classic red carpet suits, and style risk-taker Jared Leto looking dapper in a white blazer and red bow-tie.
