There are Bollywood movies and then there are Salman Khan movies, known to create a nationwide frenzy.
And for all those Salman Khan fans, who ‘Wanted’ to see his ‘Dabangg’ style the star is ‘Ready’ with one of year’s biggest releases ‘Ek Tha Tiger.’
After beating hundreds of crazy Salman fans we finally got our tickets to watch ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ in one of Mumbai’s posh theatres. But the whistles and claps made us rethink about the posh crowd we were sitting with and at the same time, reassured our belief in the magic of the junta ka star known as Salman Khan.
For all those who are eagerly waiting to know if 'Ek Tha Tiger' is worth a watch or not, we would like to say that - love him or hate him, but you can’t ignore Salman Khan. Despite a lengthy plot, marked with unexplained twists and turns, ETT is definitely watch-worthy for Salman mania, high-flying action and of course Salman’s shirtless moment. We’re sure one doesn’t expect anything more from a Salman flick. However, this spy flick is definitely better than his previous remakes.
‘Ek Tha Tiger’ is the story of RAW agent from India, who comes to Dublin to keep an eye on a missile scientist (Roshan Seth). While the ruf and tuf Tiger is still trying to find a way to his aim, he meets Zoya (Katrina), who is the scientists’s beautiful housekeeper. And as expected, love blooms. Wait. There’s a twist too! Zoya is also a secret agent, but from Pakistan’s ISI. Amid all the hullaballoo, the love-birds decide to leave behind their respective countries’ interests and live happily ever after. But considering they belong to India and Pakistan, it’s not a cake-walk for the two. What next? Will they fly away from the political clinches or will have to succumb to their professional demands. Watch the movie and find for yourself.
While witty and funny dialogues keep you entertained, fine cinematography adds to your movie experience. However, we wish the editing was a bit crisp and Aditya Chopra known for his eternal love stories and Nilesh Mishra were a little cautious when they left the story flow out of proportion. Kabeer Khan’s direction has already been appreciated in 'Kabul Express', and he has done a good job with ETT too. Action is once again slick, however, it is over the top at the same time. Unfortunately, the best action sequences have already been spilled out in the trailers. But that happens with every over-promoted film, these days.
As discussed earlier, certain twists and tales in the film have loose ends that create loopholes in the already long script. For instance you don’t understand why Zoya is hanging out in at scientist’s pad or for that matter where does the scientist who triggered off the entire plot vanishes in between the film and all the focus moves to Salman Khan and agents chasing him.
Talking about performances Salman Khan is in his element. He is the much-deserved hero of this romantic actioner. But what differentiates ETT, from other Salman Khan action movies is that here even the heroine gets to kick some ass and jump off buildings. Katrina is comfortable in her skin and has given a decent performance. The chemistry between these ex-lovers is fiery despite the much-talked about break-up. Musically, Ek Tha Tiger is already being loved for numbers like Mashallah.
It’s tough to gauge the business numbers at this point in time. However, looking the exotic locations like Dublin, Istanbul and Havana, where the film has been shot, it’s easy to gauge that the producers have left no stone unturned to win over audiences from every corner of the world including the South Asian countries.
This is just Independence Day and Eid is yet to be celebrated and we’re sure this Tiger i.e Salman Khan will roar for sure!
