Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra’s father Ashok Chopra passed away
at 12.30 PM on 10th June 2013. He was admitted at Kokilaben Dhirubhai
Ambani hospital and was hospitalized for more than two weeks. He was
undergoing a cancer treatment for the past few years. This news was told
by the hospital COO Mr. Ram Narain. He told that Ashok Chopra was
admitted before 17 days and he was in a treatment for cancer for the
last few years but this time he was at the critical stage. At this
situation his daughter Priyanka Chopra cancelled all his shootings and
was by her father’s side.
Ashok Chopra’s wife Madhu, son Siddharth and niece Parineeti were other members along with him.He was first diagnosed with cancer in the year 2005 while Priyanka Chopra was working on Bluff master. Ashok Chopra was also known for his talent of singing and also he motivated his daughter to take the profession of singing along with acting. At the early month of this year 2013 he and his wife Madhu accompanied Priyanka to a film award ceremony that was held at Vancouver, Canada. Ashok was a doctor in the Indian Army and had retired from it in the year 1997 as a lieutenant colonel.
His wife Madhu supported him and she was also a former army doctor.
Priyanka put on hold all her projects including the film based on the story of Mary Kom and prayed for the recovery of her father and organized Mahamrityunjay puja at her home. Tarun (director of Mansukhani) and Udhay Chopra were visiting the family for the past few days. Karan Johar was also one of the people who visited PC at the hospital till the time of meeting the press. The funeral was held at 6 PM and Ashok was cremated at Oshiwara crematorium. Actor Shahid Kapoor visited her house just before the funeral. Bollywood celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Parineeti Chopra, Madhur Bhandarkar, Deepika Padukone, Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, Arjan Bajwa, Ranbir Kapoor, Anurag Basu, Punit Malhotra, Ramesh Taurani and many others attended the cremation.
