I am sure most already
know, music mogul Simon Cowell is making a comeback to the X Factor in
the UK. However, after three seasons the American version of talent
contast the X Factor, the show will not be getting a fourth season.
The finale of season three in December only managed to pull in 6.2 million viewers, and as such Fox has decided to cancel the X Factor in the United States, reports Rollingstone.
After Fox made the announcement, Simon Cowell said in a statement, “I’ve had a fantastic time over the last 12 years, both on ‘The X Factor’ and ‘American Idol. And apart from being lucky enough to find some amazing talent on the shows, I have always had an incredible welcome from the American public (most of the time!)”
The US X Factor has seen nine different judges over the three seasons, and recently saw the departure of Demi Lovato.
Cowell, on the subject of the American version of the singing show also remarked back in December, “The thing about these shows over the years is they started off as one-hour shows and now it’s two hours or two and a half hours and then an hour show the next day. That’s like watching a movie. It’s getting to be probably too much. When the shows are popular, the networks want to make them longer, and that’s not necessarily a good thing.”
So there you have it, no more X Factor series over in the good old US of A, but at least we are getting Cowell back on our X Factor.
