Urdu Shayari and Urdu Poetry Is the Expression of Emotions With Apt Words

Urdu Shayari and Urdu Poetry is the expression of emotions with apt words and decorated with other tools of poetic craft known as literary terms e.g. simile, oxymoron, onomatopoeia (use of similar sounding consonants e.g. beads of bubbles brimming) etc.
The outer form provides lyricism, however, the meaning or ideas contained in words provide the revelation and enlightening and ennobling thoughts to the readers or listeners. So the art of poetry is a combination of syntax and semantics. Â Truly great poetry may be personal in inspiration but becomes universal as an interpretation and insight into human nature and predicament.
Poetry is the art of rhythmical composition, written or spoken, for exciting aesthetic pleasure by beautiful, imaginative or elevated thoughts. The difference between POETRY and VERSE is usually the difference between substance and form. Poetry is lofty thought or impassioned feeling expressed in imaginative words. VERSE is any expression which simply conforms to accepted metrical rules and structure. Urdu poetry traces its origin from Iran where this was borrowed from Arab qaseeda. The father of Persian poetry, Raudki added ghazal, especially theme of love, to the then prevalent genre, qaseeda.
Urdu poetry which began predominantly with the theme of love now encompasses every theme ranging from personal to social to metaphysical and spiritual spheres. Â A mastery over language, ideas, an intensity and sincerity of emotions and imagination are required to create poetry. Add to this knowledge of prosody which adds lyricism and, of course, inspiration.
The history of Urdu poetry shares origins and influences with other linguistic traditions within the Urdu-Hindi-Hindustani mix. Amir Khusrau is considered to be the first Urdu poet in North India and his ghazal which combines Persian and Hindi is usually cited as an example:
Ze haal miskeen makun taghaful, durai nainan banay batiyanâEUR¦.
Other historians and critics differ and consider Wali or Haatim as the first.
