Sonakshi Sinha in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai sequel
First, it was Akshay Kumar who took over Emraan Hashmi's character of Dawood in the sequel to Ekta Kapoor's 2010 hit Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. And now, Dabanng girl Sonakshi Sinha has joined the race to play Mandakini, Dawood's love interest in the film.
According to sources, the makers of the film initially wanted a more established face to play Mandakini, names as big as Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif were in the race. However, now even Sonakshi is being considered for the role. It seems the decision makers are considering the fact that Akshay and Sonakshi are already working together on two more projects and reportedly share a good rapport with each other.
The fact that Akshay and Sonakshi are already working in two films together seems to have been working in the newbie's favour. The duo will be seen together in Shirish Kunder's 'Joker' and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Rowdy Rathod'. So, Ekta and Milan are also considering this fact while making their choice.
As for now, we have to wait to find out whether Sonakshi turns out to be Dawood' lady love in the film.
Shatrughan Sinha's daughter, Sonakshi Sinha, admits she isn't proficient in Bhojpuri. So when the Dabangg girl was on the hot seat for the Bhojpuri version of Kaun Banega Crorepati hosted by her father, she responded only in Hindi.
"I understand the language well, but having been born and brought up in Mumbai, talking in Bhojpuri is an issue. My grandmother used to speak to me in Bhojpuri when I was young, but I have never really spoken it myself," says Sonakshi, who had a fabulous time shooting with her dad.
"Since he is hosting a game show for the first time, the entire family is looking forward to it. It was especially great and a wonderful feeling for us to face each other in a completely new set-up," smiles Sonakshi.
The actor, who had never seen her dad talk in Bhojpuri so well, was surprised to see how good he was at it. Ask Sonakshi about the comparisons made between her father and Amitabh Bachchan, who hosted the KBC in Hindi and she shoots back: "Comparisons are inevitable. Mr Bachchan set a benchmark, so it's natural that other star hosts will be compared to him. But still, I feel every actor, including my father, brings something special and has a USP."
