Sarah Hyland had an upsetting encounter with a fan while in Australia to film her hit show “Modern Family.”
The actress, attending a party for her and her “Modern Family”
castmates hosted by Qantas Airlines at Sebel Pier One in Sydney
Thursday, was outside the event when a fan allegedly touched her breast.
According to E! Online,
Hyland pushed the man away and yelled “Don’t touch me there!” After her
security team interceded on her behalf, Hyland left the event.
The website reports that police confirmed that a 29-year-old man connected to the incident had been arrested.
“It is alleged that the man indecently assaulted the 23-year-old woman
at about 7:50 p.m.,” a spokesperson for the police department told E! Online. The man has since been charged with assault with an act of indecency, according to TMZ.
Hyland took to Twitter after the incident to apologize to her fans for leaving the event early.
“Sorry to all the fans outside the #qantas event that I didn’t get to
say hi to but I had to leave due to an inappropriate touch of a fan,”
she tweeted.
Her boyfriend Matt Propok also tweeted his outrage over what happened to Hyland.
“To the a--hole who assaulted Sarah tonight I hope to God you don’t see next week,” he wrote.
“All Sarah wanted to do tonight was say hi to the girls who were
waiting outside (and) one d----e can ruin it for everyone,” he added in a
second message.
Hyland’s “Modern Family” castmates were also in attendance at the
party, and the cast is scheduled to be in Australia for the next two
weeks to film a special vacation episode scheduled to air later this
season.
