Katy Perry and John Mayer have reportedly split after a year-and-a-half-long romance.
According to E!, the "Dark Horse" vocalist ended her relationship with the singer-songwriter within the past few days. Mayer did not accompany Perry on a recent trip to Europe, after the couple attended Grammy weekend and the Hollywood Stands Up To Cancer event together in Los Angeles in late January.
After Perry's marriage with Russell Brand effectively ended in December 2011, the pop superstar began dating Mayer around August of 2012. The couple experienced an on-off relationship, during which Mayer contributed to Perry's "PRISM" bonus cut "Spiritual," while Perry duetted on Mayer's song "Who You Love," from his 2013 album "Paradise Valley."
"He literally is a genius, as is evident from his songwriting," Perry told Billboard of Mayer last October in her most recent cover story. "I always tell him, 'Darling, you know I'm going to have to give your mind to science after you've passed, because we're going to have to understand how all these sparks work.' We'll be in bed, and he'll be doing the crossword puzzle. Every night, he tries to finish it in under 10 minutes. When he puts his mind to something, he really gets it done very well. I always ask for his help."
Engagement rumors had been swirling around the couple for months. Mayer will continue touring internationally behind "Paradise Valley" in April, while Perry's PRISMATIC world tour begins in May.
