Cee Lo Green is stepping away from the spinning red chair.
The Gnarls Barkley singer announced that he will not be returning to NBC's singing reality show "The Voice" as a regular judge.
"I'm not coming back, guys," Green, 39, told Ellen DeGeneres in an interview Wednesday.
"I don't want to wear out my welcome there."
Green appeared on "Ellen" alongside Lionel Richie. He announced on his official website
that he and Ritchie, 64, will be touring together this year - from May
to August - in a concert special titled "All The Hits All Night Long."
The singer was one of the original judges when the American version of
the show - which originated in Holland - started airing in 2011. He
appeared as one of the four judges, alongside country singer Blake
Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, for three
seasons.
In seasons four Green and Aguilera took hiatuses, and were replaced by
singers Usher and Shakira. They returned for season five, but were both
replaced again in season six.
"I'm going to continue my relationship with NBC," he said. "I have a
television show development deal with them as well and hopefully some
other talk show opportunities for later in the year."
