Mumbai, Feb 14 (ANI): Indian filmmaker, Kiran Rao, hosted special
screening of the upcoming documentary film 'Gulabi Gang', for her peers
in the industry, as movie takes forward the fight against gender
violence, caste oppression and widespread corruption in central
Bundelkhand region. Bollywood stars including Raj Kumar Hirani, Gauri
Shinde, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Prasoon Joshi and Aditya Roy Kapur attended
the screening in India's showbiz capital Mumbai.
Post screening of the film, Rao said that the film would be appreciated and loved by all. The documentary, directed by Nishtha Jain, is based on the life of Indian social activist, Sampat Pal Devi, who founded Gulabi Gang; an Uttar Pradesh based organization that works for women empowerment. Considering it as an informative film, Bollywood actor, Aditya Roy Kapur, said that it makes us aware about the ground realities. The upcoming film 'Gulaab Gang' starring Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla as leads is based on 'Gulabi Gang'. While the documentary is slated for release on February 21, the movie will release on March 07.
